Lake County in the northeastern corner of Illinois is the third most populous county in the state with an estimated population of 703,000 and second largest county in Illinois with 1,368 square miles of land and water, most of which is in Lake Michigan. If your case is filed in the United States District Court Northern District of Illinois, Eastern Division it will be assigned to one of 50 judges and magistrates and a magistrate for the duration of the case.
